I was helping a friend create his iTunes account so he could associate a donated iPhone with his computer. When he came to the birth date he wondered out loud what year he should register. The number 1900 flashed in my mind but I said nothing. After a few seconds he said, “I’ll put 1900.”

As I sat in the parking lot by the convenience store the warning bells of the imminent approach of a commuter train sounded. I wondered to myself what direction the train would be heading. I only had a short view of the tracks as I was parked in a position parallel to the tracks and it was in an urban area, buildings obscuring the view in all directions. Obviously there’s a 50% chance to get the right answer. I thought perhaps it’s heading south. Then I thought, “why don’t I search for the answer inside?” When I looked inside a brief vision of the train heading north flashed in my consciousness. “OK,” I thought, “it’s heading north.” 45 seconds later the train whizzed by, heading north.
