Dream excerpt from last night:
[snip] …I’m in what seems like a South American town. I’m walking around the corner when I see a firetruck barreling down the road in my direction. I judge that based on its speed it will not be able to negotiate the ensuing tight curves. Sure enough it barely skids around the first but misses the second and slams into a shop. Except that it just hit the exterior shop wall really hard accompanied by a big sound then rolled back slightly with no damage to the truck or the shop. Then I detect that there are some people watching me. I sensed that as soon as I turned the corner to continue my walk I would be approached. I walk on anyway. A man walks up to me with something in his hand…[snip]
Upon waking I was disappointed because at the firetruck crash prompt I should have realized that it was just a dream. Having just completed Robert Waggoner’s “Lucid Dreaming,” I have been keen for the past few days to wake up in a dream so I can ask questions of “the thing behind the screen of the dream.” Interestingly enough, before going to bed I decided to take a different approach and not to struggle, not to intensely desire to lucid dream and to instead just accept whatever comes along. I did stare at my hands but for probably less than a minute. I awoke at 04:00, checked my messages then went back to bed at 05:00. Another weird thing, When traveling in Bali and even before, I was remembering dreams without a problem. Upon my return and decision to leverage my lucid dreams I couldn’t remember a single dream for days.
